Fake texts that say they are from your bank
My bank texted about a problem. Is it real?
What it looks like
A text says your account is locked, a big charge needs to be approved, or your card was used somewhere strange. It has a link or a number to call. The link goes to a fake page that asks for your login or card number.
What to do
- Do not tap the link or call the number in the text.
- Call the number on the back of your bank card, or open the bank's own app.
- Forward the text to 7726 (SPAM), then delete it.
- If you already typed in a password, change it and call your bank right away.
